SUSTAINABILITY
Our Sustainability Practices
At McHenry Distillery, our deep respect for nature goes far beyond the pristine water and clean air that shape every bottle we produce. Sustainability isn’t a marketing trend here, it’s a responsibility we live by every day on the rugged Tasman Peninsula we call home.
From the ground up, we’ve built our operations to minimise waste, preserve natural resources, and give back to the local environment and community that supports us.
Powered by Nature
Our distillery runs on solar energy, harnessing Tasmania’s abundant sunlight to reduce our carbon footprint while keeping our production independent and resilient.
Our distillery has an ever increasing amount of solar panels to keep us on the green side of life. Luckily here in Tasmania we are hydro powered which means all our energy is green straight from nature.
Water from the Source
All of our spirits begin with natural spring water drawn directly from five springs that flow through our property. There’s no transport, no treatment, just pure, mineral-rich water filtered by ancient rock underneath us.
Nothing Wasted
After brewing our wash (which starts as beer), the leftover grain doesn’t go to waste. It’s given to a local farmers, where it becomes nutritious feed for the cows. It’s a small cycle, but a meaningful one.
Thoughtful Packaging
Every can and every outer box we produce is 100% recyclable. We’ve chosen aluminium and paper-based packaging with intention, to reduce landfill, promote circular use, and keep things clean, simple, and responsible.
Sustainability isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we do, every day, from grain to glass. It’s part of what makes McHenry spirits so special, crafted with care, grounded in place, and made with the future in mind.
